WATERLOO, ONTARIO, August 16, 2000 — The Descartes Systems Group Inc. (NASDAQ:DSGX), (TSE:DSG), a leading provider of global Internet logistics solutions, is pleased to announce that retail and consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry expert and spokesperson David Marcus has joined Descartes’ senior management team as Senior Vice President, Retail and CPG, reporting to Descartes’ Group President, Aivars Lode. David boasts 20 years experience in the retail and CPG industry, specializing in strategic planning and systems with a focus on e-commerce. David will lead Descartes’ new initiative to provide Internet logistics solutions to the retail and CPG industry.
David comes to Descartes from the Brightspark Group where he was CEO for one of the Group’s incubation companies. “The retail and CPG landscape continues to undergo dramatic change as companies manage the opportunities and threats of e-commerce,” said David. “Fulfillment is core to the success of e-business for this industry, whether it is delivery to retailers, delivery to the customer’s doorstep, or reverse logistics, which can be a nightmare in itself. Descartes is a leader for bringing highly effective network technology and services to these organizations for improved efficiencies, on-time deliveries throughout the supply chain, and new levels of customer service.”
“David is dynamic and results-driven, with a long and proven track record for bringing success to businesses in the retail and CPG industry,” said Aivars Lode, President at Descartes. “Descartes is David’s next contribution to the industry as he brings success through logistics technology to companies in new territories and new markets. We are pleased to have David join our senior management team.”
